The Position:

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Soup Cook to join our culinary team and contribute to our reputation for exceptional soup offerings. As a Soup Cook at The Soup Meister's Nephew, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality, flavor, and consistency of our soups, stews, stocks, and broths. Your culinary expertise and dedication to creating delicious and nutritious food will be highly valued.

Responsibilities:

  • Soup Preparation: Prepare a variety of soups, stews, stocks, and broths according to established recipes and culinary standards.
  • Ingredient Management: Manage and maintain an inventory of fresh and high-quality ingredients, ensuring that stock levels are adequate for daily production.
  • Quality Control: Monitor and maintain the quality, flavor, and consistency of soups throughout the production process, making adjustments as needed.
  • Recipe Input: Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new soup recipes, seasonal specials, and innovative flavors that align with our brand.
  • Food Safety: Adhere to strict food safety and sanitation standards, ensuring the kitchen is clean, organized, and follows all health and safety regulations.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other kitchen staff, including chef patron, sous chef, and kitchen manager to coordinate food production and maintain a smooth workflow.
  • Presentation: Ensure that all soups are presented attractively and in accordance with our brand's visual standards.
  • Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper cleaning and maintenance of equipment.
  • Record Keeping: Accurately record temperature logs, ingredient usage, and other relevant kitchen documentation.
  • Customer Interaction: Occasionally engage with customers at the food service counter, answering questions about our soups and providing exceptional customer service.

Requirements:

  • Ideally, 2-5 years previous experience as a Soup Cook, Line Cook, or similar culinary role is preferred.
  • Culinary degree or relevant culinary certifications is a plus.
  • Knowledge of various cooking techniques and a passion for creating delicious soups and stews.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow recipes and guidelines precisely.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and effectively manage time.
  • Excellent communication skills and a team player mentality.
  • Understanding of food safety and sanitation procedures.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
