Proofreader 2nd shift, On site (NOT A REMOTE POSITION) 
Manchester, CT

We have a robust sheetfed, web, digital press capabilities, the largest bindery/finishing area in New England, mailing, fulfillment, kitting, large format, Print-on-Demand and variable data capabilities. Job Summary: 
The Proofreader on second shift will be responsible for  proofreading at all stages to assure quality of copy and content based on approved proofs and established requirements.

Duties/Responsibilities: 

• Responsible for quality checking all print jobs just before they go to print/press; checking text, spelling, style, headings, captions, photos, illustrations, sentence structure etc. to ensure they match the original, are correct and consistent.
• It is the proofreader's role to act as a fresh pair of eyes, spotting any mistakes others might have missed.
• Proofreads, reviews and edits materials for accurate use of grammar and content.
• Corrects any grammatical, typographical, or compositional errors in original copy.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities: 

• High level of concentration, motivated and able to meet deadline required.
• Thorough knowledge of the English language, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation rules.
• Ability to read and comprehend text rapidly and thoroughly to meet tight and oft-changing deadlines.
• Firm understanding of the editorial process; general understanding of the production process, including ability to recognize layout problems.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
• Good knowledge of color and excellent visual skills.
• Solid communication skills are also required.
• Ability to plan and manage numerous projects; budgeting and developing effective working relationships.
• Teamwork, energy level, productivity, quality focus, self-motivated, organization, time management, attendance and attention to detail.

Education and Experience: 

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• 3+ years of solid copy-editing experience.

Physical Requirements: Standing-80%, Walking-20%, Lifting – 5-10 lbs- Occasionally, Carrying - 5-10 lbs- Occasionally.

Job Type:  Full Time
Shift Available & Schedule: 2nd shift: 4:00pm-12:00am
