Responsibilities As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Your responsibilities will include:
- Project Management:
- Complete assigned construction projects, including tenant improvements, landlord-related work, capital work, maintenance and repair, and building renovations.
- Ensure projects are on time, on budget, and on specification.
- Coordinate resources, set project deadlines, assign responsibilities, and monitor progress.
- Prepare project estimates and budgets, controlling expenditures within contract limits.
- Maintain project management documentation as per Edon’s Project Management Playbook.
- Team Leadership:
- Provide leadership and motivation to the project management team, including mentoring and performance management of project managers, coordinators, and support staff.
- Work closely with other departments and subcontractors to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Manage project progress and address any issues or delays that arise.
- Stakeholder and Site Management:
- Liaise with consultants, subcontractors, property management teams, owners, and tenants on technical and operational matters.
- Conduct site visits for inspections and to review safety, progress, and performance.
- Ensure all safety standards are adhered to and that the site is compliant with relevant regulations.
- Client Communication:
- Ensure that all stakeholders are kept informed of project progress and that expectations are managed effectively.
- Resolve conflicts or disputes that may arise during the course of the project.
What Do You Need to Succeed? To thrive in this role, we are looking for the following qualifications and skills:
- Experience: A minimum of 10 years’ experience managing small to large-scale construction projects (ranging from $5K to $20M), including maintenance and repair, tenant improvements, and capital projects.
- Education: A certificate, degree, or diploma in project management, engineering, architecture, or a technologist-related discipline is preferred. PMP certification is an asset.
- Skills:
- A strong understanding of building infrastructure systems is an asset.
- Ability to direct staff and subcontractors efficiently to deliver on project expectations and timelines.
- Proficient in reading and analyzing multidiscipline construction drawings and specifications.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to chair design and construction meetings.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Travel Requirements: A valid driver’s license and vehicle, with the willingness to travel to project sites as required.
- On-Site Engagement: Enjoys being on construction sites and has a hands-on approach to project management.
