An employer is looking for a Sr. PLC Programmer to join a Utility customer in Southern California. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, programming, testing, and maintaining programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and related automation systems used in natural gas processing, compression, and distribution facilities.
Develop and implement PLC programs for natural gas processing and control systems (e.g., compressors, separators, dehydration units).
Design and configure HMI (Human-Machine Interface) systems for operator interaction.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues with PLCs, instrumentation, and control systems.
Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers to integrate automation solutions.
Perform system testing, commissioning, and startup support at field locations.
Maintain documentation for control systems, including wiring diagrams, logic diagrams, and operation manuals.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
Provide technical support and training to operations and maintenance personnel.
Position paying between 60-68/hr depending on experience

Skills and Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in PLC programming, preferably in the oil & gas or energy sector.
- Able to design and configure HMI (Human-Machine Interface) systems for operator interaction.

- Proficiency with PLC platforms such as Allen-Bradley (Rockwell), Siemens, or Schneider Electric.
- Experience with SCADA systems and industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Ethernet/IP, Profibus).
- Strong understanding of process control, instrumentation, and safety systems.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and control logic diagrams.
- Willingness to travel to field sites for commissioning and support (A large portion of southern california) - Certifications such as ISA CAP, Rockwell Automation, or Siemens TIA Portal.
- Associate or Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Instrumentation, or related field. null
