CRH Canada is currently hiring a Communications & Marketing Specialist to join their team for a 12mths maternity leave contract.

 

At CRH Canada, we strive to implement an impactful communications strategy that promotes employee engagement and positions the business for sustained success. Under the direction of the Manager of Communications & Marketing, the Communications & Marketing Specialist will assist in executing the regional communication strategy. This role will oversee activities such as internal communication campaigns, message development for internal customers, managing, implementing and training on communication platforms, and developing external marketing collaterals. Additional responsibilities include moderating and governing all internal messaging, building partnerships with senior leadership, and collaborating with operating company contacts.

 

The Specialist focuses on improving employee engagement and retention, raising awareness, and strengthening company culture by supporting change management initiatives and facilitating multi-directional communication across various channels. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the capability to work with multiple stakeholders in both construction/manufacturing and office settings to complete projects from start to finish.

 

The Communications & Marketing Specialist will be responsible for supporting the planning and distribution of internal communications, external publications, and marketing materials.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Copywrite and distribute internal communications to support business needs
  • Maintain a consistent and authentic tone of voice for internal communications, ensuring that strategic messaging is issued through the appropriate channels
  • Produce publications such as executive communications, corporate communications, news articles, etc.
  • Follow basic content design from templates using Word, Photoshop, PowerPoint, and Canva
  • Administer photography and videography needs
  • Provide support on internal communications channels including the SharePoint collaboration site and employee app
  • Track projects to ensure all commitments are delivered on time and in full
  • Assist in managing external vendor and contractor relationships to drive projects forward efficiently and within budget
  • Contribute to corporate event management including logistics, content creation and audio-visual production
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines and priorities
  • Will require travel up to 30% to plants, quarries, crews and corporate offices as needed, as well as travel for internal corporate events
  • Develop external publications and marketing collaterals including website blog articles, social media campaigns and posts
  • Effectively protect the company’s reputation through media monitoring and crises management
  • Enhance the brand through digital strategies and stakeholder management, effectively positioning the company as an employer and supplier/contractor of choice

 

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or Marketing from an accredited college or university strongly preferred 
  • Three plus years of experience in communications or marketing
  • Proficiency in the English language; Bilingual French-Canadian is an asset 
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a team setting and adapt to evolving priorities
  • Experience in copywriting internal communications
  • Experience in developing strategic marketing content preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills to convey business context clearly and effectively in a fast-changing environment
  • A confident public speaker with experience facilitating meetings, workshops, discussions, etc., preferred
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • An eye for design and creative concept skills
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, and proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, including InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Experience using communications and marketing tools such as Poppulo, Hootsuite, and Canva is an asset
  • Public relations and community affairs experience is an asset
  • Knowledge of SharePoint collaboration platform preferred
