What is the opportunity?
The Associate, Strategy, Advisory, and Transformation will play an important role in shaping the future of RBC. The Associate will be part of the Strategy and Investments pillar at RBCx and in this role, you’ll support strategic projects, including acquisitions, partnerships, and investments. From identifying spaces of interest, to developing investment theses, to sourcing targets, and executing on opportunities, you will play a critical role along the way.
What will you do?
Be a part of the RBCx Strategy and Investments function, supporting business unit leaders / RBC stakeholders with development of strategic and financial analysis in support of both inorganic and organic opportunities.
Perform market scans / secondary research to identify market trends to inform strategy and identify potential investment / acquisition targets
Build high-quality go/no-go, investment thesis, deal execution presentations to support key investment /acquisition decisions for senior executives.
Collaborate with support teams across RBC including corporate development and analytics.
Support on due diligence of key targets in collaboration with RBC stakeholders.
Communicate and present your work in a collaborative setting; contribute to development of RBCx Strategy and Investments working culture & dynamics.
Take eventual ownership of investment theses to support transformative execution outcomes for RBC.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
1-3 years of experience in a high-performing setting in a banking, venture capital, start-up, or strategy & operations environment.
Prior experience conducting market scans and preparing pitch presentations.
A knack for numbers / quantitative analysis, high attention to detail, and organization.
A knack for staying abreast with innovation across the world including innovation from new companies, discoveries and research, and global policy to name a few.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (including PowerPoint and Excel)
Extremely strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to combine qualitative and quantitative data in a cohesive narrative.
Nice-to-have
An understanding of how financial services / banking works in Canada
Prior experience using relevant tools (e.g., PitchBook, CapIQ)
A university degree in business / finance / economics / math or engineering.
