Located in Iqaluit, NU

The Assistant Director (Health) is one of three Assistant Directors under the Department of Social and Cultural Development that provides assistance to the Director in managing the Department of Social and Cultural Development (SCD) with a focus on health-related files. The Department is responsible for directing activities related to NTI’s obligations as the Designated Inuit Organizations (DIO) under Article 32 of the Nunavut Agreement.

In this position, you should have a Undergraduate Degree in a relevant field, or at least 3 years of equivalent experience in a managerial position.  Knowledge of the Nunavut Agreement and Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. mandate as well as Inuit Social and Cultural issues (values, principals, world view); and familiarity of Regional, Territorial, National, and International Inuit Organizations, including their processes and direct northern experience in dealing with governments.  You should have experience in developing and managing budgets, including third party funding and project management.  Strong policy development analysis, planning, research, and prioritization skills. Strong oral and written communication skills and experience in report writing as well as strong presentation and public speaking skills. Fluency in Inuktut or Inuinnaqtun or the willingness to undertake training to attain fluency is a must.  Other personal attributes are listed in the job description.

Preference will be given to Inuit enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement.

Starting salary is $117,366.00 per annum (commensurate with experience) a comprehensive benefit package including an employee pension plan, group insurance and vacation travel assistance.

Housing allowance of $35,232.00
