Table Games Dealer – Craps Experience Required

Position Overview:

Dealers carry out specific tasks in the gaming operation to the highest standard of efficiency in accordance with the policies and procedures laid down by The Casino and the Alberta Gaming & Liquor Commission (AGLC), and any other applicable legislation. The dealer is required to provide excellent customer service at all times by treating patrons with the utmost diplomacy, respect and courtesy.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain a valid AGLC licence and pass a criminal record check;
• On the floor, reports to the Pit Boss, and refers any disputes to the Pit Boss;
• Thorough knowledge and full understanding of the Casino and AGLC terms and conditions, approved rules and procedures of games; Conduct gambling games smoothly, legally, and according to casino rules.
• Work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), regulations, and internal health and safety policies and procedures. Must report all injuries, accidents and unusual conditions to the Pit Boss;
• Exchange money for casino chips.
• Make sure players have placed bets before play begins.
• Announce winning numbers or colors.
• Compute payoffs and winning bets.
• Collect losing bets.
• Maintain the general tidiness of the table. Create a friendly atmosphere by welcoming players to the table. Must be polite and attentive to player needs. Novice players should be handled with patience and understanding. Respond to questions about game rules and casino policies.
• Specific duties vary depending on game (Blackjack, Baccarat, Craps, Poker, and Roulette).

Education and Experience:

• Must have table craps experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Good oral communication skills
• Good Customer Service & Interpersonal Skills (especially when handling difficult or troublesome customers).
• Good manual dexterity (to handle cards smoothly)
• Must have basic mathematic skills (to determine winnings, losses, and game outcomes).
• Must be able to concentrate for long periods of time.
• Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time.
• Must be able to work in a smoking environment
• Exposure to Scents/Perfumes.
• Must be willing to work all shifts, evenings, weekends and holidays
• Multiple games is an asset
• Must be able to Pit Boss as required.
