Summary/Objective:The Signal Integrity Engineer will complete engineering projects by organizing and controlling project elements.

Essential Functions/ Responsibilities:

  1. Use novel techniques in modeling & simulation to design new connectors, cable assemblies, and connector evaluation PCBswith a focus on developing world-class connectors and cable assemblies on tight timelines with excellent correlation between measurement and simulation.
  2. Guide and direct the activities of multifunctional team(s) per the priorities set by engineering management & learnings from SI simulations/measurements on developing major new products.
  3. Perform high-speed empirical and analytical signal integrity evaluations of interconnects. Work with laboratory engineers to validate design and correlate measurement with simulations using VNA, TDR and Oscilloscope.
  4. Provide development input to design teams, create electrical product models, and associate supporting documentation.
  5. Analyze variation dependence and parametric optimization of models.

Required Experience

  • 5+ Years’ Experience designing and developing high-speed digital, RF, or microwave connectors.
  • Experience using commercial 3D field solvers to study electromagnetic effects.
  • Familiarity with high volume connector manufacturing methods & processes is required.
  • Must have a proven track record of successful connector design.
  • Communication skills are a must as this person will interact with engineers in different disciplinesas well as with members of management.
  • Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously as priorities can change quickly.
  • Understand Japan culture and be able to communicate in Japanese.
  • Be able to build good relationships with stakeholders such as suppliers and vendors in Japan.
  • Residents of Japan.

*Foreign nationals need a work visa in Japan.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (BSEE), Physics, or related field, or other equivalent work experience.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in the connector manufacturing industry or similar industries, with the ability to contribute immediately.

 

Training Required:

  • On the job training as appropriate.

Language Skills

  • Japanese: Beginner, Intermediate, Business, Native. English: Intermediate or above.

*Japan Office operates in Japanese, but English is used for most business communications.

  • Self-Starter: The ability to take initiative, act proactively, and manage tasks independently is necessary.

Employment type

Permanent employee.

Probationary period 3 months (no change in conditions during probationary period).

 

Work Locations

5-minute walk from Shin-Yokohama.

Work Hours 

9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (1-hour break).

FLEX System.

Average monthly overtime: 10 hours or less.

*Global meetings may occur 1-2 times per month during evening hours.

 

Salary

Determined based on previous employment and experience.

(Monthly salary includes a fixed overtime allowance for 20 hours)

Bonus: 3 times a year.

Salary review system (once a year).

 

Annual holidays

125 days.

Includes Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays, 4 days of summer vacation, and 4 days of New Year's vacation.

 

Paid leave

10–20 days.

(10 days granted after 6 months of employment)

Samtec Japan LLC has a total of 23 employees, including an engineering team, a sales team, and customer service, administrative, and laboratory staff.
