Job Summary

The Senior Manager, Communications is responsible for the strategic integration of communication opportunities across Disney’s international theme parks to support broader Disney Experiences segment and company priorities. This role requires strong experience in developing and executing comprehensive internal and external communication plans, with a focus on brand building and reputation management. Communication plans often include the development of mitigation and/or amplification plans, and show a clear understanding of the unique prospects and potential vulnerabilities.

This role is also supports financial communication related to the company’s quarterly earnings or other high-profile engagements where business performance is the primary focus. Being familiar with and having experience in developing messaging for key opinion leaders and influencers in this space will be a plus. A well-qualified candidate will also be aware of local, regional and global economic factors that may affect the entertainment, travel or tourism industies.

Communication strategies may utilize a range of tactics such as earned and owned media, executive engagement, paid campaigns, and event participation to help achieve business objectives. Having proven expertise concepting and activating comprehensive communication plans is an important part of this role.

This position also calls for strong project management and relationship-building skills as we work closely with communications teams across Disney Parks International (DPI), including Disneyland Paris, Hong Kong Disneyland, Shanghai Disney Resort, and Tokyo Disney Resort.

The Senior Manager reports to the Director, Communications & Public Affairs for Disney Experiences, encompassing Disney’s global theme parks and resorts, cruise line, and consumer products businesses.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic global communications plans to support company goals and initiatives, helping to increase brand awareness and build reputation.
  • Act as a strategic partner between Disney Experiences and Disney Parks International, engaging with communications peers to align communication efforts with broader business objectives.
  • Partner with teams throughout Disney Experiences, including Employee Communications, Issues Management, Corporate Social Responsibility, Public / Media Relations, Special Events, Content Creation & Digital Integration, and Disney International Communications, to develop holistic plans.
  • Research, write and activate communication that targets media and influencers, working closely with External Comms / PR teams.
  • Leverage design talent to connect stories that tier-up to a broader campaign strategy.
  • Communicate status, updates and project summaries via presentations, email and direct communication with key stakeholders and executive leadership.
  • Support the ongoing implementation of a global editorial plan and aid in the creation of tools that assist with issues management and crisis communications across Disney Experiences.

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of marketing / communications experience working with global brands, high-profile government work or agency experience.
  • Excellent oral/written communication and presentation skills.
  • Understanding of and experience in digital communications, using paid and organic tactics.
  • Issues management and crisis communications experience.
  • Demonstrated creative thinking.
  • Ability to anticipate issues of potential concern.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, to take initiative with projects, and to function effectively in a team environment.
  • Possess a positive/can-do attitude and be able to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Showcase a proven ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, collaborative environment as well as develop relationships with communications peers around the world.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and people management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in the travel and leisure, entertainment and/or consumer goods industries.
  • Multi-lingual abilities.
  • Understanding of advanced media monitoring and analytics tools.

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

The hiring range for this position in Glendale, California is $137,200.00 - $183,900.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
