We are a burgeoning e-commerce furniture brand committed to providing high-quality, innovative, and practical furniture products. Our design philosophy emphasizes modularity, functionality, and aesthetics, aiming to create comfortable and stylish living spaces for our customers. In this exciting phase of growth, we are seeking an experienced Furniture Designer with a focus on modular design and a background in creative wooden furniture design, with in-depth knowledge of the North American furniture market. Candidates who have managed design teams, collaborated with supply chains, or engaged in product planning will be given preference.

Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Modular Design: Lead the development of innovative modular furniture designs, leveraging extensive experience in modular furniture design to optimize designs based on market trends and consumer demands.
  • Wooden Furniture Design: Demonstrate unique insights and experience in wooden materials, creating durable and aesthetically pleasing wooden furniture that meets high-quality standards.
  • Project Management: Lead and supervise furniture design projects, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality design outcomes. Collaborate closely with the production team to ensure the seamless realization of design concepts.
  • Trend Research: Stay abreast of furniture design and market trends, providing the company with innovative design concepts and product directions.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other team members (e.g., marketing, production, and sales teams) to ensure design solutions align with market needs and are successfully brought to market.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Furniture design and manufacture, Industrial Design, Product Design, Interior Design, Computer and 3D design or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in modular furniture design, with a proven track record and project management experience. Preference for candidates with a background in wooden furniture design, better with previous experience working on projects for industry-leading brands such as Ikea.
  • Proficient in design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Microsoft Office etc.
  • Hand rendering/sketching is an emphasized plus.
  • In-depth understanding of materials, craftsmanship, processes, production workflows and supply chain.
  • Proven experience in guiding product planning and selection, ensuring alignment with market trends and strategic objectives.
  • A strong understanding of e-commerce dynamics, with the ability to adapt designs to the online retail environment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with other team members.
  • Sensitivity to the North American furniture market trends and awareness of competitive brands.
  • Strong creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Legally able to work in Vancouver, Canada or in New York, US
