Job Purpose

With Safety as the number one focus, the Team Leader I will support the goals of Solution Lab Manager for the Wood Coatings business unit by ensuring that critical product formulations are maintained, tested, and implemented properly in manufacturing and application. Will assist management for the implementation and operation plan and performance goals for the Research and Development team. Will manage timelines and deliverables with multiple stakeholders from different functions, escalating issues as needed to leadership.

Compensation

• Annual base Salary of $70,000.00 to 90,000.00
• 7.5% annual bonus based on personal and corporate performance
• 3 weeks vacation + 5 personal/Sick days + company determined floater days.

Key Activities

• Create work plans and organize the activities including well-defined goals and milestones and requires resources while leading a small team and ensuring execution and delivery of agreed plans, using multiple areas of expertise available at site.
• Along side team members, complete benchwork, oversee and/or lead the development of new products, or review of existing products, including scale up and customer trials.
• Train or transmit technical knowledge within the local, regional, or global team. Write and supervise execution of DOE's, including data analysis and interpretation
• Understand customer requirements and translate into technical parameters and testing. Act as technical expert for communication with internal and external stakeholders, such as internal technical reports and customer presentations
• Effective interaction with production sites to implement new products or make processing improvements.
• Ensure preparation, testing, developing, analyzing and research of elements used for formula modifications, resolution of quality issues, manufacturing modifications, and customer support.
• Build and manage relationship with functional stakeholders within Research and Development, Commercial Sales, Technical Service, Marketing, and Supply Chain.
• Attracting, leading, coaching, appraising, developing team members and create workplans and review results with team members.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or higher in a laboratory science, preferably chemistry, materials science, or chemical engineering
• 4 years' experience in the coatings industry or chemical manufacturing including product formulation good knowledge of chemistry/polymers/formulation in coatings with previous hands-on experience.
• Familiar with continuous improvement methodologies including root cause analysis, methodologies for the statistical design of experiment (DOE), and project management skills.
• Effective problem-solving skills, particularly in structured methodologies
• Available to travel for trials or customer visits (5-15%)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
