Job Description
Gastops Ltd. is seeking a Production Equipment Specialist to join its Manufacturing team and be its on-site equipment expert. The successful candidate should be a team worker, punctual, proactive, outgoing, and dependable.
Duties & Responsibilities
As a Production Equipment Specialist, you will perform the following tasks:
- Perform scheduled planned maintenance and calibration for all production equipment on site and innovative problem solving when equipment issues exist.
- Engage in continuous development and improvement of our planned maintenance and calibration programs, working with the Manufacturing Engineering team on projects to improve equipment readiness and reliability resulting in the decrease of unplanned equipment downtime
- Oversee and perform equipment calibration for all equipment in the Ottawa location(s)
- Develop the Gastops Calibration program, including the Epicor Calibration Dashboard while championing continuous improvement initiatives of calibration services.
- Manage calibration scheduling to optimize production efficiency.
- Create calibration instructions and procedures, utilizing historical records from Buildware
- Be inhouse expert of equipment reliability for operations including Weldlogic CNC Welding Electrical Systems, Test Equity Thermal Chamber Micro Controller systems and Gastops Proprietary Test systems involving HP and Keysight Network Analyzer and Impedance Analyzer, National Instruments DAQ’s, Ohpir Nova II Light meters and sensing equipment and Tanac Coilwinder Systems
- Troubleshoot failures and issues with production equipment, while understanding root causes and developing corrective actions to improve equipment reliability.
- Perform electrical (equipment) repairs based on electrical schematics and manuals, utilizing Multimeters, Tektronix Oscilloscope, GW Instek Power Supplies
- Work with the Manufacturing Engineering team to develop the Planned Maintenance System while being responsible for completing planned maintenance on production equipment.
- Be accountable for Ottawa locations spare parts management program as a subset of the planned maintenance system and ensuring that the proper spare parts are available on site as required.
- Manage maintenance scheduling to optimize production efficiency.
- Act as Key stakeholder in continuous improvement and Kaizen opportunities for Ottawa production facilities and acts as key contributor of working with and supporting Engineering teams to implement and develop improvements to processes in Assembly, Test, and the Machine Shop.
- Develop electronic control systems and test systems as a collaborative effort with Engineering.
- Lead equipment calibration, maintenance, and reliability activities while coordinating with Supervisors and Team Leads to complete all required activity on schedule without significant disruption to production scheduling.
- Educate staff on equipment issues and use to ensure that equipment is used correctly while supporting the Manufacturing Engineering team in training staff on newly introduced equipment and proper handling, calibration requirements, and maintenance requirements
- Develop New Co-op Program with Algonquin College
Minimum requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Technician/Technology or related discipline
- 2 years of demonstrated experience in related role
- 2 years of experience with manufacturing processes and production setup, ensuring efficient and effective operations
- 2 years of experience with Weldlogic, Buildware, Epicor, Thermal Chamber Micro Controller systems, Tektronicx Oscilloscope and GW Instek Power Supplies
- Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical drawings to ensure accurate assembly and testing.
- Strong analytical ability and technical judgment to troubleshoot and resolve issues during production.
- Experience with electrical assembly in a manufacturing environment, adhering to quality standards.
- Working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and practices, driving continuous improvement.
- Practical understanding of Quality Standards such as AS9100 and methodologies in lean manufacturing.
- Experience in producing working models and drawings through CAD software.
Terms of Employment
- Hours: Full time – 37.5 hours per week
- Wage: $34.10 per hour
