Are you an enthusiastic, motivated individual looking for a career as a Pharmacy Technician - start date 4th September 2023

We are a busy department including: dispensary, logistics, quality control, manufacture/preparation of medicines/products including chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition, clinical trials, ward based/clinical activities, medicines information and community services.

A minimum of 4 GCSEs or equivalent at Grade A*-C/9 – 4 including Maths, English, and at least one science that includes (Chemistry or Biology).

Calculation and literacy testing is part of the interview.

You must demonstrate an understanding and compliance with the values and behaviours expected of NHS staff and the Standards for Pharmacy Professionals.

Please note the salary is £19317 for year 1 and £20697 for year 2. (Annex 21: Year 1 = 70% top of B4, year 2 = 75% top of B4.)

You will participate in our 7 day service provision.

We are advertising independently for each pharmacy (Ipswich/Colchester) and will be interviewing at both sites on different dates. Please apply for either or both posts. Each candidate must be motivated, enthusiastic, self-directed and committed to self-study and use study time given by the department effectively to enable successful completion of the course and therefore eligibility to register with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician.

The successful candidate will undertake a Certificate of Higher Education, in Pharmacy Technician Practice delivered by the School of Pharmacy at the University of East Anglia in Norwich. This course is funded through the apprenticeship scheme, so apprenticeship funding rules will apply. The course has a blended learning approach using e-learning, classroom tutorials, practical sessions and portfolio building. There will be on-going assessments, observations with mandatory study days and forums.
