Post Majority Care Support Navigators

Job Location:  Timmins / Moose Factory, ON

 

Position Summary:

The Support Navigators are responsible for walking alongside youth and young peoples to ensure they have equitable care and access to financial assistance, access to stable and safe housing, navigating meaningful and healthy relationships, access to youth and young people’s identity, culture and community, health, advocacy, and navigating a healthy journey into adulthood.

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

  1. Social Work Diploma, Bachelor of Social Work Degree, a diploma or degree in a relevant field, or a combination of education and experience in a similar role will be preferred
  2. Minimum of one-year direct case management experience with children, youth or young adults. Carry certificates or diploma’s related to the social work field or service field related.
  3. The candidate must provide a clear criminal reference check (CPIC) and vulnerable Sector Check is required.
  4. Child Welfare Checks is required.
  5. Valid driver’s license required
  6. Any certificates related to the field of social work is required.
  7. Knowledge and awareness of the Mushkegowuk Culture, History, with understanding of the impacts of Intergenerational trauma, current Indigenous youth and young adult’s direct impacts.
  8. Ability to work in crisis situations that may arise working with youth and young people.
  9. Ability to de-escalate situations with young people
  10. Ability to advocate, and provide excellent communication
  11. Familiarity with Moose Cree First Nation’s Child and Family Well-being Law.
  12. Knowledge of Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) and the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal (CHRT)
  13. Knowledge of the Ontario Provincial Legislation, as well as other provinces, in relation to family well-being.
  14. Must be able to travel unexpectedly
  15. Must be able to work outside of our regular business hours when required.
  16. Knowledge in resources available for youth and young people experiencing struggles with addictions, mental health, education, housing, etc.
  17. Ability to speak Cree is an asset

 

Salary: $75,016.50-$95,023.50

 

Duration: Permanent with 3-months probation
