Job Description

Are you a seasoned coding professional with a passion for education and a knack for leadership? We're seeking a dynamic Audit and Education Manager to lead and inspire our team, ensuring the highest standards of coding accuracy and compliance for our clients.

In this pivotal role, you'll be the driving force behind our auditing and education initiatives, working closely with clients to enhance their coding practices and optimize revenue integrity. You'll lead a talented team of auditors and educators, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment where everyone can thrive.

What You'll Do:

Lead and Empower: Manage a team of auditors and educators, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback. You'll ensure adequate staffing levels, maintain quality and productivity standards, and conduct regular performance evaluations.
Strategic Planning and Client Engagement: Collaborate with clients to plan audits, deliver educational sessions, and provide expert guidance on coding best practices. You'll be a trusted advisor, ensuring services align with contract terms and evolving client needs.
Educational Excellence: Develop and deliver engaging coding training programs for both internal staff and external clients. You'll stay ahead of the curve on coding updates, compliance issues, and industry best practices, sharing your knowledge through targeted coaching and educational presentations.
Auditing Expertise: Conduct comprehensive professional audits across a variety of specialties and settings, including E&M and surgical cases. You'll analyze data trends, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions to ensure compliance and accuracy.
Collaboration and Communication: Serve as a liaison between the team, clients, and leadership, communicating client goals, project updates, and audit findings with clarity and professionalism. You will also collaborate with business development to support client growth.
Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure coding compliance with industry standards, payer requirements, and regulatory guidelines (ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, AMA, CMS, AHA Coding Clinics, HHS/OIG). You'll address discrepancies, interpret Local Coverage Determinations (LCDs) and National Coverage Determinations (NCDs), and generate insightful reports on compliance metrics.
Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies, collaborating with leadership to implement innovative solutions.
What You'll Bring:

A minimum of 8 years of recent physician coding experience and 5 years of recent physician auditing experience.
Minimum 3 years of management or supervisory experience in the coding/auditing field (preferred).
Expert-level knowledge of E&M and surgical coding, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and coding guidelines.
Proven ability to educate providers in one-on-one and group settings.
Experience developing and implementing audit plans.
Strong client-facing experience with the ability to lead engagements and foster business relationships.
Excellent communication and presentation skills (verbal and written).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and healthcare information systems. Experience with Google Workspace is a plus.
Active and in good standing AHIMA or AAPC professional credential (CCS, CPC, etc.). AAPC CPMA credential is required, multiple credentials are preferred.
A high school diploma is required, an associate's or bachelor's degree in healthcare is preferred.
Experience with auditing specialties for Ophthalmology, Behavioral Health, Cardiology (CV/CT Surgery), Complex ENT Surgery, Dental, Complex Plastic Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, NICU/PICU, and FQHCs/RHCs is a plus.
Experience working remotely is a plus.
Epic proficiency is highly desired.
