SUMMARY OF THE VARIOUS JOBS IN MEDICAL DEVICE REPROCESSING UNIT SERVICES

Medical Device Reprocessing Assistant (2071)
This position is intended for individuals who are working towards becoming a certified Medical Device Reprocessing Technician (MDRT 2070). Under the guidance of a certified Medical Device Reprocessing Technician, individuals will learn how to process reusable supplies, instruments and equipment.

Medical Device Reprocessing Technician (2070)
Performs a series of detailed technical duties related to the decontamination, sterilization, reassembly, function testing, and distribution of medical and/or surgical supplies and medical devices for various areas of the hospital. This position also performs related clerical duties and record keeping.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS OF EACH JOB

Medical Device Reprocessing Assistant (2071)

• High school diploma or GED;
• Education program that meets the requirements of the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) or enrollment in such a program;
• Certificate from the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) as a Medical Device Reprocessing Technician as per set timeframe;

Medical Device Reprocessing Technician (2070)

• High school diploma or GED;
• Certificate from the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) as a Medical Device Reprocessing Technician;

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL JOBS

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
• Physical ability to perform assigned duties;
• Good previous work history (performance and attendance);
• Adherence to Vitalité Health Network's professional ethical principles, management philosophy and organizational values;
• Compliance with the rules of confidentiality established by Vitalité Health Network.

SALARY RANGES

Medical Device Reprocessing Assistant (2071) $23,9281 to $25,4968 per hour
Medical Device Reprocessing Technician (2070) $24.7081 to $26.3361 per hour
