Description

The Manager, Collections plays a pivotal role by leading and overseeing the Accounts Receivable Collections teams located at our corporate head office and our Moncton location. The Manager, Collections will strategize, implement, and manage the company’s collections process, ensuring the prompt retrieval of outstanding payments from customers. This role contributes directly to the financial stability of Purolator by optimizing cash flow and minimizing delinquencies. The Manager will collaborate closely with other internal teams such as Finance, Sales, Legal, Billing, Adjustments, Credit Risk, etc. to balance cash collection goals with customer satisfaction, while also enforcing company policies, procedures, and performance targets related to credit and collections.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for departmental KPI’s to ensure that the targets defined by the organization are achieved.
  • Provide technical, advisory, and moral support to the department to ensure both positive customer and team member experiences.
  • Directly supervises and coordinates the activities of consumer debt collectors, to ensure collection of accounts.
  • Coordinate and implement collection policies and procedures.
  • Develops and implements correspondence prototypes and telephone techniques for effective collection of accounts.
  • Trains new debt collectors in collection policies, procedures and activities.
  • Interacts effectively with all levels of staff, customers, debtors and vendors.
  • Achieves department goals and objectives daily, weekly and monthly. This includes continuous reporting, tracking of top critical and delinquent accounts, providing weekly collection actions to Senior Manager, Director and VP.
  • Provides leadership for team and provide coverage when needed.
  • Coordinates new hire training and conducts ongoing training with staff to correct or improve performance trends.
  • Conducts weekly audits on collectors making sure they adhere to policies and procedures while keeping in compliance.
  • Making sure employees are aware of issues or changes.
  • Be responsible for the distribution of Reminder letters, Overdue notices
  • Performs other miscellaneous duties as needed and as assigned

Education

  • Completion of post secondary education in related field

Experience

  • This seasoned professional will have expertise in accounts receivable management in billing, credit, and collections or other relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership and results-oriented skills, and the ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills to coordinate a wide variety of tasks and responsibilities.
  • Clear ability to multitask, prioritize, and track multiple projects or concurrent activities.
  • Excellent analytical skills and abilities to interpret credit reports and financial statements.
  • Maintain set approved company performance targets of DSO (Days Sales Outstanding).
