Are you experienced in Linux Administration and have a passion for providing solutions and stellar customer service?
We are looking for a knowledgeable and personable Linux Consultant for our Calgary branch to support the enterprise consulting team and have a direct impact on our growth strategy through the delivery of an exceptional client experience! You will utilize your expertise in Linux administration to provide dedicated support to our client with a migration project. What your role at Long View looks like:
- On-site administration of day-to-day activities in a large enterprise environment
- Respond to the clients’ ticket queue and escalated ticket items
- Build, configure and administer Linux Red Hat Enterprise, as well as physical and virtual servers in a SAN and NAS environment
- Provide technical support to customers by handling systems related issues through on-call telephone, virtual or on-site as needed
- Perform repairs, maintenance and upgrades of existing systems using solutions in accordance with standard operating procedures within and outside of standard business hours
- Install hardware as required
- Communicate status of incidents, plans for resolving incidents and completion of incident reports
- Assist in supporting the efforts of technical support staff in the performance of assigned projects
- Implement and document processes and procedures to ensure compliance with standard business practices
- Assist in the implementation of operational run books and project documentation
- Plan changes and operational improvements based on client needs
- Identify solutions and act as the key technical consultant or coordinate the involvement of other Long View resources to propose new technical requirements, projects and strategies
- Adhere to change management processes (ITIL)
- Participate in designing backup and disaster recovery solutions
- Participate in discussions to leverage existing and future technologies
- Document weekly any technical challenges encountered into Long View’s technical issues database
What you bring to Long View:
- 3+ years of experience in designing, building, automating, administering and monitoring Linux RedHat Servers
- 5+ years of operational management experience in enterprise Linux/Unix environments
- The ability to install, configure, and troubleshoot Linux/Unix based environments, including physical servers
- Experience in managing Linux VM server resources, and the creation and deletion of VM snapshots
- Experience with RedHat tools such as Satellite and Ansible
- Experience with LDAP and directory administration
- Knowledge of fundamental concepts of distributed, complex enterprise deployments including networking, communication protocols, VLANs, multi-tiered environments, virtualization technologies, storage, hypervisors, routing, monitoring, storage connectivity, capacity planning, file systems, backups, load balancing and firewalls
- Experience configuring virtual network interfaces, multi-pathing, and bonding
- Expertise with custom patch solutions for Red Hat systems
- Ability to create scripts to automate tasks (Shell, Perl, Ansible preferred)
- Strong interpersonal communication skills

Expected Salary Range plus 10% variable earnings
