Business Information: New Leaf Psychology Centre and its associates provide assessment and treatment services across the lifespan, from early childhood through to adulthood. Treatment services are offered in individual, family, couple, and group formats. Assessment services include psychoeducational, developmental, giftedness, psychological, and rehabilitation (MVA/WSIB) assessments.

Job Description:

• Collaborate with specialists to develop programs for clients’ special needs
• Develop individualized education and intervention plans based on special needs of client
• Perform administrative tasks
• Provide literacy coaching and mentoring on phonological awareness using the Orton-Gillingham approach
• Support development of reading and writing skills
• Contact collateral interviews with family and/or school personnel
• Assess clients’ literacy skills and learning requirements
• Work and collaborate with parents to track children’s progress.
• Adapt learning materials to clients’ needs
• Inform parents about their children’s performance and current and potential difficulties

Requirements:

Education: Completion of a college program in special education, rehabilitation, orientation and mobility, visual impairment, hearing impairment or intellectual disability is required.

Experience: A minimum of 1 year of experience working with school aged children is required. Experience teaching literacy (reading and writing) and knowledge of the Orton-Gillingham approach is required.

Target audience: Children, Persons with learning disabilities.

Salary: $28.39 hourly, 37.5 hours per week.

Important information:

• The worker will work six days a week. The regular work schedule is as follows:
• Monday to Thursday – from 12 pm to 8 pm (it includes one unpaid 30-minute lunch break, and two paid 15-minute coffee breaks)
• Fridays – from 12 pm to 3:30 pm
• Saturdays – from 8 am to 12 pm
• Sundays off.
• Flexibility in schedule and work on weekends are required.
