Job Description
We are looking for a talented In-shop Service Technician to join our Distribution business in Dartmouth NS.
This position is in an union environment. This position will be on a rotational work schedule.
In order to be successful in this role you will need the following: Education, Licenses, Certifications - Truck and transport Red Seal certification required
- Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution
- Locally valid driving permit (Preferred)
- This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations
Experience - Intermediate level of work shop experience required
- Advanced level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products
(Advanced)- Ability to troubleshoot with limited/no support from diagnostic tools
- Larger more complicated engine rebuilds
- Mentor junior technicians including technical support and documentation
Qualifications - A copy of your red seal certification or trade’s diploma is required for this position.
- A copy of a 5 years driver’s abstract is required for this position.
- A valid local driver’s license is required for this position.
Responsibilities About the role: - This position is in a union environment.
- You will be working on On and OFF highway Engines (from 6.7 liters to 15 liters) on the following :
- Tandem tractors
- Firetrucks
- Transit buses
- Crane units
- Refuse units
- RV’s etc.
Working hours are on a rotational shift : Days: 8:00am to 5:00 pm--Nights: 3:00pm to Midnight
Pay is 38.63$ hourly
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways: - Applies documented procedures and policies to perform diagnostics and complex repairs
- Performs preventative maintenance based on assessment of engine
- Completes required documentation, such as work completed documents, time sheets, warranty claims and quality forms, via handwritten or business system input screens
- Completes training in line with skill and business requirements
- Coaches and develops technicians and/or apprentices and transfers knowledge and experience to others; may provide work direction; may review repair plans, parts lists, etc
- Maintains work area and tools for cleanliness and proper operation
- Adheres to and ensures adherence of more junior technicians to all relevant Health, Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislation and reports any issues / incidents to their supervisor
