STATUS:Full-Time, Exempt

JOB CLASSIFICATION:                 Specialist II

WORK ARRANGEMENT:Remote

REPORTING LOCATION:              San Francisco, CA

SALARY RANGE:                            $85,000-$134,984

OVERVIEW

The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) is a key, full-time staff position at LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired (LightHouse) in San Francisco. The Human Resources Business Partner reports to the Vice President of People and Culture and will play a crucial role in aligning HR strategies with business goals, driving organizational effectiveness, and fostering a positive employee experience. This person will work closely with leadership, business units, and HR teams to deliver comprehensive HR solutions that drive business success and create a thriving workplace culture. The HRBP will have responsibility for strategically coordinating the needs and aims of the agency with the metrics of performance of employees, providing documentation and guidance around issues of culture, performance, employment coordination and business requirements.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources, including 3+ years in a senior-level HRBP role.
  • Strong understanding of HR best practices, talent acquisition, employment laws, and industry trends.
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity and equity and performance management.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation skills and customer service.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Strong attention to detail, with excellent time management and deadline delivery.
  • Proven track record of building effective relationships with leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong computer technology skills in Microsoft Office Suite: including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Experience working in the blindness field or disability community preferred.
  • HR certifications (e.g., PHR (CA), SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) are a plus.
  • Familiarity with ADP WorkforceNow/ADP TotalSource is a plus.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Talent Management:
  • Lead the talent acquisition and retention efforts for all level roles, ensuring a diverse and skilled workforce.
  • Partner with Workforce Development as needed to assist with internal and external placements.
  • Drive succession planning initiatives, identifying high-potential employees and developing strategies for leadership development.
  1. Organizational Development:
  • Assess organizational structures, identify skill gaps, and develop plans to enhance team performance and productivity.
  • Participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success. Follows up to ensure training objectives are met.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to design and implement change management initiatives, ensuring smooth transitions during periods of growth, reorganization, or transformation.
  1. Performance Management:
  • Develop/Oversee performance management programs that align individual and team goals with the organization’s objectives.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to managers on effective performance feedback, coaching, and performance improvement plans.
  1. HR Analytics and Reporting:
  • Utilize HR data and analytics to generate trends and insights, measure HR program effectiveness, and make informed decisions to drive continuous improvement.
  • Develop and present reports to leadership that highlight HR metrics and trends.
  1. Strategic Partnership:
  • Collaborate with leadership to understand business goals and develop HR strategies that support long-term organizational success.
  • Provide expert guidance and insights to management on HR matters, including talent acquisition, performance management, employee development, and more.
  • Proactively identify areas for HR improvement, change management, and innovation, aligning with industry best practices.
  • Ability to synthesize multiple inputs to create a thorough understanding of the organization’s current state, needs gaps, as well as the ability to create a path to address the result of that gap analysis.
  1. Compliance and Legal Considerations:
  • Stay updated on labor laws, regulations, and industry trends to ensure HR practices and policies remain compliant, as well as reduce legal risks.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies in multiple regionalities.
  • Collaborate with legal teams to handle sensitive and legal HR matters effectively.
  1. Leadership and Mentorship:
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering their professional growth and development.
  1. Employee Engagement and Relations:
  • Act as a senior-level advocate for employees, promoting a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
  • As needed, works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • As required, help address complex employee relations issues, providing guidance and interpretation of policies to ensure fair and consistent resolutions.
  • When needed, help conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations as needed.
  1. Ability to perform other related duties as assigned.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to carry or transport 20lbs
  • Sit at a desk and perform computer-intensive work for long periods of time
  • Operate standard office equipment
  • Must be able to travel independently as needed (will be required to attend annual All-Staff Meeting in Northern California in person, as well as provide onsite presence as needed)
