Established in 1922, the Idylwylde Golf & Country Club is a family-oriented, eco-friendly club that supports our community while providing outstanding golf, curling, dining, and social experiences for the enjoyment of all Members and Guests. Conveniently located in the heart of Sudbury, Idylwylde is nestled between Laurentian University and beautiful Lakes Ramsey and Nepahwin. Under the supervision of the superintendent the gardener will be asked to maintain the existing property gardens, hanging basket and planters. These duties include watering, weeding/pruning, pest/disease control, planting, fertilizing, and purchasing of plant material. Beyond this you will be given a great deal of creative control to improve on the existing plantings while also building and designing new ones. There is a small greenhouse for seed propagation and lots of opportunity to create seasonal planters and displays. From time to time you may be asked as time permits to aid in daily golf course set up tasks. Seasonal employment (April-Oct) with competitive compensation based on experience.

Qualifications:

• Self-motivated individual who has a passion for working in an outdoor environment with an emphasis on horticulture and landscaping
• Able to work as a team player to achieve common goals
• Ability to order all plant material within a specified budget
• Must have the ability to identify perennials, annuals, shrubs, and woody plants
• Knowledge of growth habits, and planting techniques relating to perennial, annual and woody plant material
• Knowledge of pest, diseases and a understanding of a IPM approach to maintenance
• Hardscape experience an asset
