FLEET VEHICLE MECHANIC ONE POSITION FOR THE SCHOOL DISTRICT WITH AN ASSIGNMENT FOCUSED ON AUTOMOTIVE FLEET AND GROUNDS EQUIPMENT .
FORTY HOURS PER WEEK.
Qualifications As Per Job Description. RATE OF PAY AS PER THE COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT, $35.40 to $37.96 PER HOUR.
DUTIES TO COMMENCE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
Knowledge And Experience - Secondary school graduation or equivalent
- Holds a valid BC Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyman Heavy Duty Equipment Technician Certificate or Red Seal Journey Mechanic and Pressure Fuel License (Propane) or is willing to obtain Pressure Fuel License
- Holds a minimum of a valid BC Class 2 Driver's Licence, with Air Brake Endorsement
- Holds a valid BC Commercial Vehicle Inspector Certificate
- Minimum of 6 years of experience as a Mechanic
- Thorough and current knowledge of the established standards, practices, regulations, methods, tools and equipment of the trade
- Basic computer skills with ability to read and form emails, view word/excel documents, navigate internet and use web-based applications including diagnostics and software fleet programs
- Good health in order to perform a variety of assigned tasks

Responsibilities - Performs a variety of skilled tasks in the maintenance of district vehicles and equipment
- Determines, judges and selects appropriate course of action within the limits of established procedures
- Maintains and repairs all vehicles and equipment in a safe operating condition
- Executes the preventative maintenance program according to Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure
- Prepares various Government online forms including required Motor Vehicle Inspections (CVI’s) using a BCeID
- Orders parts, equipment and supplies
- Maintains and repairs alternate fuel systems
- Responds to emergency situations as required
- Acts as a relief bus driver in emergency situations when necessary
- Road tests vehicles
- Performs other related duties time permits and/or assigned as required
