Business Information: BOLT Telecommunications Inc. is young and dynamic fibre optic infrastructure company based in Ontario since 2021. Our company offers fibre optic services and specializes on the implementation of networks, such as Fibre To The Home (FTTH), Multi Dwelling Units (MDU), Wireless To The Home (WTTH), Fibre To The Building (FTTB), Fibre To The Curb (FTTC), Fibre to the Node (FTTN), and Fibre To The Room (FTTR).

Business Location: 1225 Kennedy Road, Suite 2000, Scarborough ON, M1P 4Y1

Work Location: Same as above and various locations across Ontario.

Type of Employment: Full time – Permanent

Job Description:

• Interpret and understand placing and splicing work plans.
• Splice and test fiber optic cables in all outside plant applications – aerial, burial and underground, on both newly placed and existing cables.
• Accurately record and report project progress to the appropriate supervisory person and communicate any issues or expected delays.

• Work outdoors in various conditions to place copper or fiber optic telecommunication cables.
• Troubleshoot and locate fibre faults.
• Use an optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR) for testing and troubleshooting.
• Input project as-built information.
• Clean and maintain tools and equipment.

Requirements:

Education: Completion of secondary school is required.

Experience: At least 3 years of experience in the field is required. In the event that the candidate does not meet the 3 years of experience, then a college diploma or bachelor’s degree related to the field plus 1 year of experience as a Fibre optic cable splicer are required to qualify.

Ability to use OTDR is required.

Language: English is required

Salary: $35.00 hourly, 35 hours per week.

Important Information: Flexibility in schedule is required. The regular work schedule will be from Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 5 pm, including one unpaid 45-minute lunch break and one unpaid 15-minute coffee break. Overtime may be required depending on the business needs. Weekend work will be required.
