A leading residential homebuilder in Calgary is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join their team. This role plays a key part in delivering accurate costing for single-family and multi-family home construction projects, supporting both pre-construction and active build phases. The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of residential construction processes, cost control, and vendor relations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accurate and detailed estimates for new home construction projects, including take-offs and material/labour costing
  • Analyze architectural drawings, engineering reports, and specifications to determine scope of work and pricing
  • Collaborate with the drafting, purchasing, construction, and sales teams to refine designs and maintain cost efficiency
  • Maintain and update unit costing databases and historical data for future budgeting
  • Review and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes for accuracy and competitiveness
  • Support the tendering process and assist in contract preparation
  • Monitor cost changes and provide pricing impact assessments for design revisions or upgrades
  • Assist in identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or design intent

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of estimating experience in residential construction (single-family or multi-family)
  • Post-secondary education in Construction Estimating, Construction Management, Architectural Technology, or a related field
  • Proficiency with estimating and homebuilding software (such as BuilderMT, NewStar, or similar)
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills with high attention to detail
  • Effective communication and organizational abilities
  • Familiarity with local construction methods, materials, and building codes
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
