Summary/Objective

As a Data Center Security and Compliance Manager, you will leverage your expertise to oversee day-to-day data center security operations, provide hands-on support for policy and process implementation, and ensure audit compliance with STACK and client policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage security team operations to protect STACK personnel, information and assets.

• Manage site security incidents and escalations, ensuring appropriate action is taken, all reports are properly completed, and appropriate parties are notified in a timely manner.

• Provide after-hours on-call management escalation support and participate in event response when needed.

• Work closely with client security teams to drive successful outcomes for our customers.

• Support and oversee regular data center security and compliance audits and reviews, including ISO 27001, SOC 1 & 2, and PCI DSS

• Manage the execution of established compliance processes in alignment with STACK policies, standards, guidelines, and relevant legal and regulatory requirements.

• Develop security methodologies, policies and procedures.

• Develop and deliver security training, including on-the-job training, workshops, and continuous education initiatives.

• Prepare detailed reports and provide regular updates to management on the status of physical security operations and compliance.

• Provide security oversight for construction and retrofit projects, ensuring compliance with standards and managing the security handover process

• Identify and troubleshoot system performance issues. Implement corrective actions to resolve identified issues.

• Analyze physical security system performance and recommend improvements.

• Develop and deliver effective presentations on data center security and compliance to customers and management.

• Effectively respond to sensitive issues, complex inquiries, or complaints from security service providers, co-workers, supervisors, and management.

• Foster and maintain strong working relationships with Security Service Providers, FM subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants.

• Assist Critical Operations Manager in managing Security Service Providers (including security guarding, offsite alarm monitoring, and locksmith services), ensuring compliance with contract KPIs and SLAs.

• Regularly review reports, assess performance, and drive continuous improvement to align Security Service Provider objectives with STACK priorities.

• Regularly evaluate objectives and plans to ensure continual improvement, and alignment of the Security Services Provider with STACK priorities.

• Positively influence and motivate employees and security service provider teams to achieve desired performance.

Travel Required

• Regular travel between the STACK TKY01 Data Center site and STACK Tokyo head office required.

• Occasional travel to other STACK Data Center facilities within Japan and internationally may also be required.

Required Education and Experience

• 5+ years of security operations experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.

• Native-level proficiency in Japanese and intermediate level proficiency in English (written and spoken).

• Demonstrated ability to analyze situations, make quick decisions and formulate action plans.

• Proven ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex documentation.

• Experience investigating site incidents and preparing detailed reports.

• Experience managing and collaborating with security service providers.

• Working knowledge of security software systems.

• Working knowledge of video surveillance equipment.

• Familiarity with compliance standards such as ISO 27001, SOC2

• Ability to create, track, and manage key performance metrics.

• Experience training others on security procedures.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Education and Experience

• Understanding of Japanese security regulations and compliance standards (e.g., ISO 27001, JIS standards, Japan’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA)).

• Possess or ability to obtain Japanese Security Supervisor/Officer certification (警備業務検定), Facility Security Officer Certification ((施設警備業務検定), ASIS PSP, or equivalent security qualifications.

• Experience or certification in Security Risk Management (or equivalent), specifically within Japan.

• Experience working with security service providers in a high-security environment within Japan.

• Knowledge of Japan-specific security frameworks and regulations applicable to data center operations.

• Native-level proficiency in Japanese and business-level proficiency in English (written and spoken).

• Conflict resolution or crisis management training.
