Job Description

MiLEND Mortgage is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Compliance Manager to oversee the company’s compliance operations. The Compliance Manager will ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local regulations concerning mortgage lending, including regulatory changes, audits, and exam preparation. This role involves working closely with various internal departments to promote a strong compliance culture, mitigate risks, and ensure regulatory requirements are met throughout the mortgage origination, processing, and closing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regulatory Oversight & Advisory:
    • Ensure MiLEND Mortgage’s operations comply with all applicable federal, state, and local mortgage lending laws, including RESPA, TILA, ECOA, HMDA, Dodd-Frank, and other related regulations.
    • Advise management on regulatory changes and help implement new policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance.
    • Stay updated on changes in regulations and communicate these updates to key stakeholders within the company.
  • Compliance Auditing & Monitoring:
    • Conduct regular audits and reviews of mortgage files, processes, and procedures to ensure compliance with internal policies and industry regulations.
    • Identify potential compliance risks and work with management to resolve them proactively.
    • Lead preparation for external regulatory exams and audits, and collaborate with examiners to address any findings.
  • Training & Support:
    • Develop and deliver compliance training programs for staff to ensure understanding and adherence to regulatory requirements.
    • Provide guidance and support to loan officers, processors, and other departments on compliance-related matters, helping them navigate complex regulations.
  • Process Improvement & Risk Management:
    • Continuously evaluate and enhance compliance controls, identifying areas of improvement within the company’s processes and procedures.
    • Collaborate with management to optimize the compliance control environment and mitigate risks.
    • Assist in ensuring that marketing materials, business product programs, and communications align with regulatory standards.
  • Reporting & Documentation:
    • Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of compliance activities, audits, and training initiatives.
    • Prepare compliance reports for senior leadership, detailing findings, recommendations, and ongoing efforts to improve the company’s compliance posture.

Requirements

  • Experience:
    • 5+ years of experience in mortgage compliance, with a strong background in managing compliance functions within the mortgage industry.
    • Experience in regulatory reporting, audits, and examinations, particularly with federal and state agencies.
  • Knowledge & Skills:
    • In-depth knowledge of mortgage compliance regulations, including RESPA, TILA, ECOA, HMDA, Dodd-Frank, CFPB regulations, and other applicable laws.
    • Familiarity with mortgage-related software, such as Loan Origination Systems (LOS), and processing/closing systems is a plus.
    • Strong analytical, decision-making, and risk assessment skills.
  • Communication & Collaboration:
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex regulatory information to both technical and non-technical teams.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with various departments.
  • Core Attributes:

    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple compliance priorities simultaneously.
