Job Title: AI-Driven Business Process & Automation Specialist (HR & Payroll Focus)

Location: Vancouver, BC (Hybrid)

Type: Temporary 6–12 month contract

Reports To: Director of People & Culture, Dotted Line to Tech Services

Per Hour Range: $40-$55 CAD

Job Summary:

We are looking for an innovative and out-of-the-box thinker to join our People & Culture (P&C) team as an AI-Driven Business Process & Automation Specialist. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in business process automation and HR technology who is eager to apply AI and automation to real-world HR and payroll challenges. The candidate will analyze and optimize end-to-end processes, identify opportunities to leverage a combination of automation and AI-driven solutions, and work closely with Tech Services to implement cutting-edge technology. This is an exciting opportunity for a tech-savvy problem-solver who is passionate about AI, digital transformation, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

AI-Driven Business Process Analysis & Optimization:

  • Work closely with the P&C and Payroll teams to map and analyze current HR and payroll processes, identifying opportunities for positive change and areas where AI and automation can drive significant improvements.
  • Understand and recommend data models to underpin automation and AI-driven enterprise search, agentic workflows, and HR Co-Pilots.
  • Develop and maintain AI-enhanced process documentation, including workflows, SOPs, and automation roadmaps.

AI & Automation Implementation:

  • Partner with Tech Services to evaluate, recommend, and implement AI-powered automation solutions for HR and payroll processes such as onboarding, payroll processing, benefits administration, and talent management.
  • Utilize AI-driven analytics, Robotic Process Automation (RPA), AI Agents and machine learning tools to optimize HR and payroll processes.
  • Ensure seamless integration of AI and automation tools with HRIS, payroll, and other HR tech systems.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management:

  • Act as a bridge between HR, Payroll, and Tech Services, ensuring that AI and automation initiatives align with both business needs, technological capabilities, and privacy and security requirements.
  • Engage with HR and Payroll stakeholders to gather requirements and validate AI-enhanced process improvements.
  • Train HR and Payroll team members on AI-driven tools, automation best practices, and emerging technologies.

AI-Powered Data & Reporting:

  • Leverage AI-driven data analytics to measure process effectiveness and automation impact
  • Generate insights and predictive analytics to drive data-informed decision-making

Continuous AI & Process Improvement:

  • Define and measure KPIs to drive the understanding of process effectiveness, AI solution impact, and indicators to drive a fail-fast approach.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest AI advancements, HR and payroll technology trends, and automation best practices.
  • Advocate for a culture of AI-driven continuous process improvement and digital transformation within HR and Payroll.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, HR Technology, AI, or a related field.
  • Recent graduates or individuals with 1-3 years of experience in AI-driven business process automation, HR/payroll technology, or workflow optimization are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong understanding of AI applications in HR and payroll systems, automation tools, and process improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with AI and automation tools such as Microsoft PowerAutomate and PowerApps, UiPath, Workato, ChatGPT, or similar platforms.
  • Knowledge of HR and payroll systems (e.g., ADP, UKG, Workday, SAP SuccessFactors) and AI-driven integration best practices.
  • Experience with machine learning models, predictive analytics, and AI-enhanced decision-making tools is a plus.
  • A creative mindset with a passion for AI innovation and problem-solving.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret AI-driven insights and translate them into actionable improvements.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to adapt to emerging AI technologies quickly and work in a fast-paced environment.
