QUALIFICATIONS
Valid California Teaching Credential required; Master's degree preferred; four years of successful teaching and coaching experience

(preferably at the secondary level).

ASSIGNMENT/DUTIES Plan, organize, coordinate and implement a comprehensive interscholastic sports program; assume all duties previous under the title of

Athletic Director.

  • Evaluate and supervise all head coaches, assistant coaches, walk-on coaches, and volunteer coaches involved in school athletic

programs.

  • Provide leadership, coordination and supervision at school-wide activities that promote student connectedness in Academics, Athletics,

Activities and the Arts; supervise students during the day and in various school activities in the evening and on weekends as

appropriate.

  • Assist in the selecting, supervising, assigning and evaluating performance of certificated and classified staff; motivate employee

performance and enhance morale; maintain documentation; recommend appropriate action in cases of substandard performance.

  • May teach up to two periods of instruction and may serve as athletic coach if selected to coach a sport
  • 199 days per year, 12-month employee with a flexible work year that is approved by the District, must be available to work during

portions of the summer

SALARY AND BENEFITS

  • Placement on Athletic Director Salary Schedule (pending Board Approval) with starting salary between $90,451 (Step 1) -

$129,316 (Step 10); maximum of nine years of outside experience accepted, including up to two years credit for Substitute

Teaching experience; All years of teaching/education experience in Los Alamitos Unified will be included in determining salary

placement
