Apprentice Electrician or Millwright Overhead Crane Technician Location Calgary, AB T2C 2C8 :

- Apprentice Overhead Crane Service Technician - Calgary

Kristian Electric is looking an Electrician or Millwright Apprentice who is interested in joining the Overhead Crane Service Technician team at our Calgary branch as an Apprentice Crane Technician, you will be trained and coached through your apprenticeship while learning the ins and outs of crane service, repairs, troubleshooting, installation, and eventually, inspections. An Apprentice Crane Technician assists with the servicing and installing of overhead cranes at customer job sites and in our local shop. The successful candidate will be:

  • Reliable and conscientious of their learning, techniques, and work while assisting with project deadlines and customer requests
  • A team player - willing to help wherever needed and take on any tasks that may get your hands dirty
  • Safety focused and diligent to role model for future apprentices and other co-workers

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performing preventative and corrective maintenance of overhead cranes and equipment
  • Assisting in the installation of overhead cranes and corresponding equipment
  • Troubleshooting equipment to diagnose deficiencies and determine repairs required
  • Repairing or replacing defective parts
  • Cleaning, lubricating, adjusting, and performing other maintenance work on lifting equipment
  • Servicing attachments and working tools
  • Continued education, technical experience, and on-the-job learning

Required Education and Experience:

  • Must be an indentured apprentice in good standing with apprenticeship board
  • Minimum 2-year electrical experience — clearly state your level of apprenticeship (1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year) on your application
  • Electrical experience in industrial areas preferred
  • Must be comfortable working at heights
  • Must have reliable transportation and must have a valid non-graduated driver's license, a 5-year driver's abstract, and a 3-year letter of experience from your insurance, evidencing a clean driving record
  • Must be safety oriented
  • Training: WHMIS 2015, CSTS, Fall Arrest, Elevated Work Platform, Emergency or Standard First Aid - CPR, Scissor Lift, Forklift certification, Overhead Crane Operator Training

Working Conditions:

  • Eye protection is provided
