Job Description

Do you love aviation? Do you lead change through pro-active assessments, active engagement, and continuous improvement? Executive Aviation is looking for a Safety and Quality Manager to guide and support our Safety and Quality Assurance program at the Saskatoon International Airport, YXE.   

We are looking for someone who is passionate about change management through effective Safety and Quality Assurance programs. This person would be overseeing and supporting the successful execution of our safety goals, as well as identifying trends and priorities to ensure commitment to our safety standards and consistent performance in the operation.  The successful candidate will be a Safety Management Systems leader with a background in aviation and people leadership. This role would be local to Saskatoon, while reporting directly to the Head of Safety and Standards.

This position is salary based and requires flexibility with days and hours to support the operation as required.  

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety policies are in place, understood and consistent standards are implemented
  • Ensure safety compliance is achieved within the operations on a daily basis
  • Develop and implement the station specific safety goals and objectives
  • Implement Executive Aviation Policies and Procedures
  • Provide timely management reports weekly and monthly as required
  • Drive corporate and base specific safety programs
  • Provide guidance & support to operational management and team members on matters of safety
  • Develop policy and procedures through a process of hazard identification and risk control
  • Proactively promote a safety culture that aligns with Executive Aviation standards
  • Support the field operation to introduce safe and secure working procedures and proactive audits, daily inspections and quality control checks
  • Lead and support the local Health and Safety Committee
  • Liaise with the Airport Authority, Air Carriers, Regulatory authorities and local stakeholders on safety matters and initiatives
  • Monitor changes in operational procedures at the airport and amend operational training requirements accordingly.
  • Lead accident, incident reporting & investigation
  • Facilitate the distribution of network safety alerts on a knowledge-sharing basis to increase awareness
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Share ideas on improvements to working practices especially those relating to safety
  • Conduct the duties of an auditor, as described in the SMS manual
  • Ensure all Operational Manuals remain current
  • Communicate, coordinate and consult with network leadership on hazards and risk assessments
  • Monitor, analyze, and report trends in safety performance
  • Participate in partner, stakeholder, and industry safety performance working groups
  • Support the development and Implementation of corrective actions in the context of organizational risk management strategies
  • Support the ongoing performance management and development of team members

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in a related field or an equivalent level of education and experience
  • A minimum of 2 years aviation safety and Airport operations experience
  • Airport Ground and Winter Operations experience considered an asset
  • CRSP, or pursuing a CRSP designation, would be considered an asset
  • Demonstrated understanding of safety management systems for aviation organizations
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the use of computer applications e.g. MS Word, MS Excel
  • Demonstrated knowledge of aviation regulations
  • Effective communication and organizational skills (report and policy writing)
  • Demonstrated ability to bring about meaningful and sustained safety and/or procedural change through effective change management techniques
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Auditor certifications considered an asset
  • Must be able to acquire and maintain a Transport Canada restricted area identification card (RAIC)
