Coulson Aviation is a global aerial firefighting company that operates in the USA, Canada, Australia, and South America.

Coulson Aviation operates with a fleet of large aerial firefighting aircraft consisting of both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft. With our fleet, we can run rapid aerial fire suppression, including initial attack and extended attack protocols.

Coulson Aviation is a part of The Coulson Group of companies. We are a growing organization that has been in business for 65 years.

Due to our company growth and expanding footprint, we are looking to add an Designer in Port Alberni, BC.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

The Aerospace Designer is responsible for designing, planning, and ensuring the proper integration of electrical systems into Coulson Aviation aircraft. This role focuses on the installation and routing of electrical wiring, cables, and components within the aircraft or spacecraft, ensuring that they meet industry standards and function reliably under extreme operational conditions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support the structural modification of aircraft for electrical and avionics changes.
• Able to work in a dynamic role, supporting a fast paced and changing priorities avionics and electrical team.
• Design cutting edge aerospace structural/mechanical installations, modifications, and repairs using CATIA V5.
• Provide ongoing support of existing designs / products as well as new designs / products.
• Develop design documents for demonstrating airworthiness compliance to the appropriate aerospace regulations.
• Prepare reports and data packages for design approval and certification.
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Aerospace (or Mechanical) Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.
• A minimum of three (3) years of aerospace design work experience.

• A minimum of three (1) years of Enovia/CATIA V5 experience.
• Experience with wiring installations.
• Experience with the mounting and installation of avionics equipment.
• Knowledge of acceptable methods of clipping and their impact on the structure.
• Sheet metal design experience.
• Machining design experience.
• Knowledge of aircraft design inertias for loading.
• Thorough knowledge of aerospace materials and processes.
• Strong organizational, analytical, decision making, oral and written communication skills.
• Working knowledge of PCs including Microsoft Office.
